25 September 2024, Vancouver, BC – As part of its drive to engage the Filipino diaspora through culture and the arts, the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver met the members of the Indioz Bravoz art collective on 20 September at VS. Creative Lab along Commercial Dr. in Vancouver, BC.

Indioz Bravoz is a group of Filipino-Canadian artists from Calgary and Vancouver who aim to make and promote contemporary art that links members of the Filipino diaspora to their heritage. Their Vancouver exhibit from 21 to 30 September is the second stop of a three-city exhibition tour that started in Montreal and will wrap up in Calgary in November.

Consul Analyn Ratonel and Vice-Consul Marco Harder met the art collective at VS Creative Lab a day prior to their opening night. Each artist had the opportunity to talk about their craft: where they draw their inspiration from, their methods, and their future plans for the collective. Vice-Consul Harder also attended the opening night the following day.

As part of its cultural diplomacy thrusts, the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver continues to proactively engage and support Filipino practitioners of various creative arts in the communities it serves. END
