RICHMOND 28 OCTOBER 2024 –  The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver joined OneFilCoop in celebrating their 15th anniversary at the Riverside Banquet Hall last Saturday, 26 October 2024. The event was attended by about 200 cooperative members and guests from the Filipino community.  Also present at the event were MLA for Vancouver-Kensington Mable Elmore and Burnaby Councillor Maita Santiago, as well as Filipino community leader Sammie Jo Rumbaua of the Mabuhay House Foundation.

OneFilCoop is the first-ever Filipino cooperative organization established in British Columbia. It cites microlending, remittance services, and social development projects as some of its activities. It also established One Housing Society as an initiative to provide affordable housing solutions to its members.

Acting Head of Post Analyn D. Ratonel and Vice Consul Marco Harder were invited to the event. In her remarks, AHOP Ratonel highlighted how OneFilCoop embodies the spirit of bayanihan through their dedication to improving the lives of their stakeholders. She also noted that the cooperative’s commitment to enhancing the lives of Filipino-Canadians resonates with the Bagong Pilipinas values of resilience, innovation, and collective purpose.
