24 July 2017, Vancouver—A breakfast forum, “Trade and Investments Opportunities in the Philippines,” to be hosted by the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver will be held on July 26, 2017 at the Pinnacle Hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The forum, which is part of a five-day trade and investment outreach program of DTI in Western Canada, will welcome guests and participants from the various industry sectors in B.C. Philippine Consul General to Vancouver, Hon. Neil Frank R. Ferrer will open the program with H.E. Ambassador Petronila P. Garcia, Philippine Ambassador to Canada, delivering the keynote remarks.
Toronto-based Philippine Senior Trade Commissioner Maria Roseni M. Alvero will impart to the audience the economic and trade prospects in the Philippines that Canadian investors may wish to explore. According to Ms. Alvero, “The Philippines would like to see more investments from Canada given the vast potential in manufacturing and services in the areas of IT-BPM, specifically game development and animation; agri-based industry and aerospace.” She further stated that the Philippines aims to double its exports to Canada, particularly on food products and IT-BPM services in the next few years.
The forum will also serve as a venue to introduce the services of the recently-opened DTI Office in Toronto. The Philippine trade and commercial office will function as the go-to office of Canadian investors and Philippine businesses who wish to export, partner or invest in both countries.
Canadian companies led by Aquilini Renewable Energy Ltd and Corinthian Distributors Ltd will also share their experiences in doing business in the Philippines during the trade forum.
