PH Consulate in Vancouver sends Mission to Prince George, B.C.

04 April 2017. A team from the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver visited the city of Prince George, British Columbia (BC) last March 31 to conduct consular outreach services for the Filipino community in the area.

Prince George is a thriving community in the BC interior, which is home to over a thousand Filipino immigrants. Nicknamed as BC’s “Capital in the North,” Prince George was built principally on the region’s massive wood and lumber industry.

The Consulate team, led by Consul General Neil Frank R. Ferrer, performed consular services for almost 200 Filipino applicants for passport, civil registry and notarial services. The team also conducted mobile registration for overseas voting, taking in 141 new registrants.

They were also able to meet and interact with members of the Filipino community at the Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society (IMSS) of Prince George.    

Consul General Ferrer took the time to call on Prince George Mayor Lyn Hall and discuss matters of mutual concern, such as the situation of the Filipino community in the area and opportunities for trade and investment partnership.

Consul General Ferrer also went on a guided tour of the sawmill and other facilities of Canfor, one of the largest wood and lumber producers of BC and a major company in Prince George. END
